10.  Worth of Life

Blessed are those who are meek and humble of hearts,

Blessed are those with pure and loving hearts,

Blessed are those with true and clean conscience,

And walk on risky roads under God’s guidance.

In spiritual matters it is the spirit that matters

And not the effort that matters;

In temporal matters it may be the other way round,

But for idleness it is no reasonable ground.

What is the best service of God?

It is to work for the greater glory of God.

All earthly dreams would vanish

When that work you want to finish.

What is the be-all and end-all of our existence?

To lead a virtuous life with God’s assistance.

Life on earth is just a sojourn

Life after death we cannot adjourn.

Seek not things to happen as you wish;

Let things happen as per God’s wish,

That will give you peace of mind,

And lost things will not disturb your mind.

To serve and not to be served must be our yearning

That is what Christ has given us for our learning

In a world full of woe and suffering

We can give God no better offering.

God covered the earth with green blades of grass,

Man has covered it with all kinds of dirty mass.

What right has he to sully the face of the earth

Which he is occupying as a right of birth?

Power in the hands of men will sometimes be abused,

The supreme power of God will then be used

To prevent all such blatant abuse;

But still there will be some misuse.

Materialism and spirituality cannot go together;

In content they are different altogether.

The former concerns things that are worldly,

The latter concerns things that are other-worldly.

No pains, no gains is universally true;

All pains, all gains is not equality true.

Some pains may fetch some fruit,

Some others may go without any fruit.

Truth in words, truth in action

May not earn everyone’s adulation;

People who have something to hide

May such conduct sometimes deride.

In success we rejoice, in failure we bewail.

Bewailing failure is of no avail.

This is a part of human nature,

Ensuring success gives better future.

Is sudden death better than a slow death?

In whatever manner, death is death.

Everybody would like to live in health;

Life should not be taken away by stealth.

When two people are joined by strong ties of friendship

They cannot be separated by any kind of hardship.

They will rise to each other’s need,

No profit or loss they will heed.

Love thy neighbour as thyself is the law;

If this law is kept without any flaw,

Peace in the world would prevail

And any attempt against it would fail.

What is wrong with our world?

It is that love is not valued as gold.

What does it want to hold

But power and pelf untold?

Married life is a life of sharing-

Pleasures and sorrows of life sharing;

Of children’s love too there is sharing,

Of their care there’s no need mentioning.

No relationship is more lovely than marriage,

No communion or company is better than marriage.

What is more, God’s blessings go with it

Lest powers of darkness may ruin it.

A mother yearns for her children’s love,

A child yearns for its parents’ love,

A lover yearns for his sweetheart’s love,

Love is nourished by nothing but love.
