DALAI LAMA April 04, 2017:   The Assam Rifles felicitated its retired jawan, Naren Chandra Das (76), who had escorted the Dalai Lama during his escape from Tibet in 1959. Das is the only surviving jawan among the 8 Assam Rifles men who had escorted the Tibetan spiritual leader.
