- June 03, 1973: He married to actress Jaya
Bhaduri on this day; they
have one son, Abhishek Bachchan (also an actor), and one
daughter, Shweta Nanda.
- 1984: He was an elected member of the Indian
Parliament from 1984 to 1987.
- 1984: He was honoured with
PADMA SHRI Award by the Govt of India.
- 1991: He became the first artist to receive
the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, which was
established in the name of Raj Kapoor.
- 1999: Bachchan was voted the "greatest star
of stage or screen" in a BBC Your Millennium online
poll.
- 2000: Crowned as Superstar of the Millennium at the Filmfare Awards.
- June 2000: He became the first living Asian
to have been modelled in wax at London's Madame Tussauds Wax
Museum.
- December 20, 2000: He
unveiled his own statue at the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum
in London. He is the only film personality from India to be
so honoured. The other Indians, whose statues are there at
this museum are Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi

- 2013: He made his Hollywood debut in 2013 with The Great
Gatsby, in which he played a non-Indian Jewish character,

- January 21, 2016: Amitabh
Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra were appointed as the new Brand
Ambassadors for Incredible India Campaign, substituting
Aamir Khan the erstwhile Brand Ambassador, whose 10 year
term had expired.

stated companies. It is possible that my name has been
misused. I have paid all my taxes including on monies

overseas have been in compliance with law, including
remittances through LRS, after paying Indian taxes. In
any event the news report in Indian Express does not
even suggest any illegality on my part. "
