- April 20, 1526:
He marched onto Delhi via Sirhind and he reached the historical
field of Panipat on this day, where he met
Ibrahim Lodi along with his numerically superior army of about
100,000 soldiers and 100 elephants.

April 21, 1526:
The battle began on morning of this day when
Ibrahim Lodi died during the battle thus ending the Lodi Dynasty.

March 17, 1527: Babur defeated the
Rajputs under Rana Sangha of Mewar and Khanwa.

December 06, 1992: Babri Masjid was
demolished by Karsevaks of Ramajanmabhumi movement
mobilised by the call given by organisations like VHP and Bajrang
Dal.

2003: By the order of an Indian
Court, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was asked to
conduct a more indepth study and an excavation to ascertain
the type of structure that was beneath the mosque.

March 12, 2003: The excavation
of the disputed site at Ayodhya was conducted from this day onwards.

August 07, 2003: The
excavations at Ayodhya were completed on this day resulting in 1360
discoveries. The ASI submitted its report to the Allahabad
high court.

Following a series of setbacks, he finally succeeded in becoming the
Emperor.

father, and also a descendant of Genghis Khan
through his mother.

After the battle Babur occupied Delhi and Agra, seated himself on
the throne of Lodi and laid the foundation of the Mughal
Rule in India.

But he was yet to become the ruler of India, as new
contenders for the throne like, Rana Sanga, who
rose to challenge his rule. The Rajputs believed that they could
capture Delhi from Babur without much difficulty. But Babur resolved
to push further into India, into lands never previously claimed by
the Timurids.

He is popularly believed to have demolished the Rama Temple at
Ayodhya and built Babri Mosque at the same
place.

The summary of the ASI report submitted to the court indicated the
presence of a 10th-century temple under the mosque. The report
concluded that it was over the top of this construction that the
disputed structure was constructed during the early 16th century.
