March 17, 1866: It was
founded as the High Court of Judicature for the
North-Western Provinces at Agra on this day by the Indian
High Courts Act 1861 replacing the old Sadr Diwani Adalat.
June 11, 1866: It was
established on this day as Agra High Court.
March 11, 1919: The
location of High Court for the North-Western Provinces was
shifted from Agra to Allahabad in 1869 and the name was
correspondingly changed to the High Court of Judicature at
Allahabad from this day.
February 25, 1948: The
Chief Court of Oudh was amalgamated with the High Court of
Allahabad.
December 08, 2016: TRIPLE
TALAQ - The court said that the practice of divorcing a
woman by uttering 'Talaq' thrice is unconstitutional. It
further said that the triple talaq practice – sanctioned
under Muslim personal law that governs marriage, property
and divorce – violated the rights of Muslim women. In a
landmark statement, the Allahabad HC said, “No Personal Law
Board is above the Constitution."
April 02, 2017: Speaking at
the closing ceremony of Allahabad High Court's 150th
anniversary celebrations in Allahabad, Prime MInister Mr
Modi said, technology is playing a big role in this century
and has a big scope in the judiciary as well. He also added
that over 1,200 obsolete laws have been scrapped by the
Government since May 2014. He said, law is not only for the
rich but also stands equally for the poor.

jurisdiction over the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh
since 1869.
It was one of the first high courts
to be established in India.
