INDIA - SPACE
PROGRAMME - Satellite-Resourcesat |
Date-wise Events |
- October 17, 2003: Resourcesat-1:
- RESOURCESAT-1 (also known as IRS-P6) is an advanced
remote sensing satellite built by Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO). It is intended to not only continue
the remote sensing data services provided by IRS-1C and
IRS-1D, both of which have far outlived their designed
mission lives, but also vastly enhance the data quality.
- April 20, 2011: Resourcesat-2:
- Resourcesat-2 is a follow on mission to
Resourcesat-1 and the 18th Indian Remote Sensing
satellite built by ISRO. The new satellite provides the
same services as the original RESOURCESAT-1, but was
also designed to "provide data with enhanced
multispectral and spatial coverage". Compared to
Resourcesat-1, LISS-4 multispectral swath has been
enhanced from 23 km to 70 km based on user needs.
- December 07, 2016: Resourcesat-2A:
- India put into orbit the remote sensing satellite
Resource sat-2A successfully.
- The PSLV rocket is a four stage/engine powered by
solid and liquid fuel alternatively.
- According to the ISRO, Resourcesat-2A is a follow on
mission to Resourcesat-1 and 2, which were launched in
2003 and 2011 respectively.
- The new satellite Resourcesat-2A intends to continue
the remote sensing data services to global users
provided by the earlier two.
- This day's venture of ISRO has a proven technology
which put it alongwith nine other countries in the
world.
