- 1973: She began her career
with modelling; she also made her acting debut in this year
in film Charitra opposite cricketer Salim Durrani. Though
the film was flop but she was noticed and was snapped up for
several more films.
- July 1976: She was the
first Bollywood star to appear on the front page of the Time
(magazine).
- July 1983: She left India
and the film industry at the height of her career and
travelled to various countries on a spiritual journey.
- November 1989: She returned
to Mumbai.
- 1991: She started a career
as an interior decorator.
- 2002: She hit the headlines
when she filed an affidavit in the special court hearing the
1993 serial bomb blasts case, claiming that she had gathered
clinching evidence against actor Sanjay Dutt showing his
involvement in the case.
