- June 25, 1932: First
Test Match ever played by India - On this day, India
played its first ever test match and that was against
England played at Lords. India lost this match by 158 runs.
- July 19, 1952: India was
bowled out twice on the same day. On this day, Indian team
became the sole test side in the world to be bowled out
twice on the same day. This record remains unbroken even
after 55 years. This match was played at Old Trafford
against England. Obviously, India lost this match by an
innings and massive 207 runs.
- April 12, 1976: India beat
West Indies by scoring a record 406 for 4 in the fourth
innings of a test match at Port of Spain.
- November 25, 1981:
The first ever one-day international cricket match in
India was played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, when England beat India by 5
wickets.
- April 08, 1984: Era of
Neutral Umpiring started on this day with Dickie Bird of
England and Shakoor Rana of Pakistan acting as the first
neutral umpires in one day cricket, who stood in a match
between India and Sri Lanka at Sharjah.
- January 18, 1998: On this
day, the Indian cricket team recorded the highest Chasing
total score of 316 for 7 against Pakistan's score of 314.
- July 13, 2002:
India's best chasing performance. On this day, in a Natwest
Trophy ODI match at Lords, India succeeded in chasing a huge
total score of 325 by England. India won the match by 2
wickets. This was India's best chasing performace, the
previous best being against Pakistan's 316.
- December 09, 2007: On this
day, the Indian cricket test team made a score of 626 all
out (the highest ever score made at Bangalore) on the second
day of the third test match against Pakistan.
- March 19, 2007: On this
day, India made a record 413 runs in ODI against Bermuda,
the highest ever score in world cup. Further, within 6 days
of South African team hitting a record 18 sixes against
Holland in World Cup match - a world record for an ODI
innings - India also hit 18 sixes against Bermuda.
- March 26, 2007: The Indian
cricket team, while playing a test match against and in
Bangladesh, created a new world record in test cricket when
first four of its players all ended up scoring more
than a century. The century makers were Wasim
Jaffar, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
- March 18, 2012: On this
day, India defeated Pakistan while chasing latter's mammoth
score of 329. This feat was made possible mainly by
Virat Kohli,
who scored 183 his ODI highest so far. Other contributors to
this immaculate win were the half centuries by
Sachin Tendulkar and
Rohit Sharma.
- March 14, 2015: New World
Record Created - In the world cup match against Zimbabwe,
India made a world record by scoring 196 runs in the 5th
wicket partnership (between Suresh Raina, who made unbeaten
century, and MS Dhoni).
- July 15, 2016:
England captain Alastair Cook
broke India great Sunil Gavaskar's record of 9,607 for the most
runs as a Test opener while making 81 against Pakistan
at Lord's on Friday. The 31-year-old England captain had already become the
youngest player in the history of cricket to score 10,000 Test
runs but 13 of his innings were not as an opener.
