Clay Mouldings
Conversion of plastic clay into different shapes and artifacts has
been one of the most fascinating arts for the young ones. Presumably
it is one of the oldest forms of art the human beings have been
pursuing.
Even when there
was no paper, pencil and the like, the human race had always access
to the clays, the gift of nature.
The most common and basic moulding clay is made from the earthen
clay mixed with water and oil to make it easily mouldable dough.
Certain other substances like fluor, salt, oil, etc. are also
sometimes added to meet the desired specifications of the moulded
artifact. Once the clay has been moulded to the desired shape, the
artifact is dried either in the free air or in kiln depending upon
the end-use of the artifact. Many other commercial versions of
moulding clays are also available in the market.
Our aim here is not to teach you how to make doughs and mouldings
but just to apprise you of yet another great hobby for your
youngsters to adopt at an early stage of their life. With this aim
in view we shall be contacting the various young enthusiasts of this
hobby and try to display their creations:
