INDIA - FREEDOM STRUGGLE TRANSFER OF POWER June 03, 1947:   Under the Mountbatten Plan, the British government announced these principles: (i) Principle of Partition of India was accepted by the British Government, (ii)  Successor governments would be given dominion status and (iii) Implicit right to secede from the British Commonwealth.
