Mahamahopadhyay Pandit MAHESH CHANDRA NYAYRATNA May 24, 1881:   He was made a Companion of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire (CIE) on this day, keeping in view the esteem he enjoyed from the Indian scholars by being addressed with the title of Nyayratna.
