May 26, 1928 - In the final match,
India faced the home team of the Netherlands, when the
best of Indian players were ill so they could not play.
However, even then India managed to defeat the hosts 3-0
and the Indian team won the first Olympic gold
medal. Dhyan Chand was the top scorer of the
tournament, scoring 14 goals in 5 matches. |
