- 1993: He was elected from
Krishna Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency, Delhi in 1993 on
the Bharatiya Janata Party's ticket and became a member of
the First Legislative Assembly of Delhi.
- 1994: IMA President's
Special Award of Appreciation by the Indian Medical
Association.
- 1998: Director-General's
Polio Eradication Champion Award Commendation Medal by the
World Health Organization.
- 2001: Polio Eradication
Champion Award by the Rotary International.
- 2002: "Doctor of the last
Decade" (Swastha Ratna) by Indian Medical Association's New
Delhi branch.
- 2014: He contested the
Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat and won by a handsome margin.
- October 23, 2013: Dr Harsh
Vardhan was named the Chief Ministerial candidate for the
Delhi Assembly elections by the BJP. Though the BJP emerged
as the single largest party (32/70 seats), Dr Harsh Vardhan
rejected the suggestion of forming a patchwork government,
and, following the highest traditions of parliamentary
democracy, decided to sit in the Opposition.
- May 16, 2014: He was
elected as the member of Indian Parliament for Chandni Chowk
constituency in Delhi.
- May 26, 2014: He became
the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India, on
this day.
- November 09, 2014: He
became the Minister of Science and Technology, Govt of
India, on this day. On this very day, he also retired as the
Minister of Health & Family Welfare.

- He has been a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh
(RSS) since childhood.
- He was appointed Minister of Health and Minister of Law
in the Government of Delhi and later became Law Minister as
well.
- During this period (1993-98) people found him remarkably
accessible and officials respected him for his hands-on
style of functioning.
- Dr Harsh Vardhan was re-elected in 1998, 2003, 2008 and
2013.
