Date-wise Events
  • January 28, 1933:   On this day, the Muslims of India mooted the division (or partition) of India on communal and religious grounds.
  •  August 14, 1947:   Pakistan gained independence on this day.
Description This was one of the most unfortunate days for all Indians of all religions and creeds. Choudhry Rahmat Ali read out a note on this day at Waldorf Hotel in London proposing the division of India. The name Pakistan was coined by him and was accepted by the Indian Muslims who then adopted it further for the Pakistan Movement seeking independence.
